Anthony Bennett out three weeks with knee strain

Cleveland Cavaliers rookie power forward Anthony Bennett will miss the next three weeks with a left knee strain. Bennett’s injury was announced at practice today when the team was available. Cavaliers point guard also missed practice due to an undisclosed illness.

Bennett, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, underwent an MRI on Sunday that reveled a strain in his left patellar tendon. It’s possible that this could end Bennett’s season – one of the most disappointing seasons by a first overall pick in NBA history.

For the season, Bennett has appeared in 51 games, playing 12.7 minutes per game and averaging 4.1 points per game and 2.9 rebounds per game while shooting 35.2 percent from the field. In his last appearance before the injury, Bennett played eight minutes against the New York Knicks on Saturday, scoring two points.

In happier news, it appears that guard C.J. Miles, who has been out with a sprained ankle, will be back for the Cavaliers’ West Coast trip.
