NBA Trade Rumors — With only one day left until the trade deadline, most teams are calling Boston Celtics’ GM Danny Ainge to see if they can swing a deal for either Rajon Rondo or any other of his attractive trade assets. However, it seems that the Celtics themselves have their eye on a player — Gordon Hayward of the Utah Jazz.
The Celtics have expressed some interest in acquiring Utah’s Gordon Hayward, a league source tells CSNNE.com.
The biggest challenge appears to be finding assets currently on the Celtics’ roster that are appealing to the Jazz.
It would appear the one thing that might nudge Utah towards giving serious thought to dealing Hayward, would be if the Celtics were willing to part with at least one of their stockpiled first-round picks.
The Jazz couldn’t reach an agreement on an early extension with Hayward before the beginning of the season, and he will become a restricted free agent this summer. It seems that Boston would rather acquire the small forward now than put in a contract offer which the Jazz can match after the season, but as CSNNE reports, it’s hard to see the two teams coming to an agreement.
Just like the Celtics, the Jazz are rebuilding and would love to get their hands on more first-round picks, but Boston has been very reluctant to including any of their picks in trade talks and, if anything, they want to pile on even more future selections before the deadline.
