NBA Trade Rumors – The Orlando Magic could very well be active the closer we get to the trade deadline. The league is very polarized right now, with a whole bunch of teams tanking and looking to make moves to get worse and stack up on more future assets. The Magic are in that boat, and could make Glen Davis or Jameer Nelson available.
Still, the Magic will be looking for ways to shop a few veterans in an attempt to pick up more young assets. Arron Afflalo will garner the most interest, but Jameer Nelson and Glen Davis are also available. Nelson’s partially guaranteed deal (only $2 million) next season makes him a particularly interesting chip.
As mentioned in the ESPN report, Afflalo, who is having the best season of his career and has played at a borderline All-Star level, would be guaranteed to garner a whole lot of interest around the league. The team didn’t move him last summer, and unless an exceptional offer comes along, they will likely keep his cap-friendly contract.
While Davis is unlikely to interest many teams around the league, Nelson is certainly an interesting name. Many have speculated for a while that Nelson could be moved, especially when the Magic were playing around with the idea of converting Victor Oladipo into a point guard. Nelson has value both as a potential backup ball handler off the bench, and as a low-risk investment as he has a team option this summer and could be released.
