NBA Trade Rumors – We are getting closer and closer to the trade deadline, and we can expect the rumors to keep picking up steam from here on out. The Phoenix Suns threw the tanking plan out of the window a long time ago, and they have been willing to part with their abundance of draft picks if they can improve their current roster this season. It seems that the latest target for the Suns is Pau Gasol. According to Marc Stein, Phoenix is exploring the possibility of trading for the Los Angeles Lakers’ big man.
The Phoenix Suns have emerged as a potential trade suitor for Los Angeles Lakers center Pau Gasol, according to sources close to the process.
Sources told ESPN.com that the Suns, among the options being weighed as part of their well-chronicled desire to acquire an established player as they make an unexpected playoff push this season, have been exploring the feasibility of trading for the Lakers’ four-time All-Star.
The Suns could offer the expiring contract of Emeka Okafor and additional draft picks in return for Gasol’s expiring contract. For the Lakers, this would be a terrific opportunity to save money, and perhaps even go under the luxury threshold if they make more deals. The season is pretty much headed to the lottery with or without Gasol for the Lakers, so a deal such as this could potentially interest them.
