Kevin Durant has been lighting up the league lately, and is widely considered as the front-runner for the MVP award at this moment. He is only 25 years old, and still has a very long career ahead of him. How long? Well, if you ask Durant himself, he seems to be inclined to play till he is 40 years old.

Very few NBA players can find a job in the league when they are in their mid-thirties. Some do adjust and find limited bench roles, but at that point they have to go up against significantly younger and superior athletes. Thankfully, Durant has a very limited injury history, and that plays a huge role into how long a player’s career will last.

Durant certainly has the skill set to be able to contribute even when his athleticism declines. He is tall enough to shoot over guys and has a great touch, so it’s not impossible to imagine a 40-year-old KD being an effective spot-up shooter. NBA fans probably wouldn’t mind to watch Durant for another 15 years, right?
