Boston Celtics could trade Jeff Green?

As it turns out, Jeff Green is a pretty hot name among league executives who speculate on which player will be moved next. While many trade rumors around the league are centered around Rajon Rondo, Green is another interesting name.

More executives think the Celtics want to trade Jeff Green. They’re probably trying to persuade someone to take Gerald Wallace along with Green, though many figure they’ll eventually move Green. A nice exchange could be for Omer Asik, giving the Celtics a point guard/defensive center core to move forward with along with Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk. And Houston could use Green as a stretch four scorer.

Although the proposed scenario above doesn’t have much substance as of yet, it is a deal that would make quite a lot of sense. Omer Asik is a great rim protector but teams around the league are scared of his contract. However, it will likely take the Celtics a little while to rebuild through the draft and they could probably end up re-signing Asik at a somewhat cheaper price down the road.

The Houston Rockets, on the other hand, were probably dreaming about getting their hands on Ryan Anderson, who is now sidelined with a herniated disc. Green is a worse three-point shooter than Anderson but having him as your stetch-four and a third or fourth scoring option would not be too shabby on this Houston team.
