3. San Antonio Spurs (28-8, Last week: #6)

If you manage to navigate a week with potential trap games – Memphis on the road, the deceptively good Dallas Mavericks and the struggling but still dangerous Timberwolves – without so much as a hiccup you get to chill out in the top three. Losing Danny Green for a month could prove a blow to a bench that has otherwise been exemplary.

4. Portland Trail Blazers (28-9, Last week: #1)

I’m always a little behind on teams trending up or down, especially those at the extremes of the league. However the Blazers this week fall victim of setting the bar so high for themselves this season. Losing to the Sixers is a game that should encourage a bounce-back in a contender, the Blazers followed it up with a meek loss in Sacramento. This is life at the top table, Portland.
