New York Knicks looking to move J.R. Smith

NBA Trade Rumors – J.R. Smith is not having the best of seasons following his Sixth Man of the Year campaign in 2012-13, and the New York Knicks are reportedly looking to trade him.

On Wednedsay, Smith was fined $50,000 for his recent antics of untying his opponents’ shoes, despite receiving formal warnings from the league to stop doing so.

The Knicks signed Smith to a pretty big extension last summer, rewarding him for the best season of his career. Ever since then it went downhill. Smith had an offseason knee surgery and has sustained a lot of criticism for his unimpressive play so far. He is averaging 11.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and three assists per game, while shooting a career-low 34.8% from the field and making headlines for just about everything else other than his play on the basketball court.

It might be tough to find a new home for Smith. Considering all the recent events, his trade value around the league should be extremely low and it’s hard seeing anyone giving anything valuable in return for his services.
