NBA Trade Rumors
The rumor mill is heating up following the Luol Deng trade and the Charlotte Bobcats are looking to move the expiring contract of Ben Gordon, according to Alex Kennedy.
The Charlotte Bobcats are shopping Ben Gordon, according to league sources. They have talked to many teams about the veteran guard and are trying to move Gordon’s $13,200,000 ending contract for a player who helps them win now. Charlotte has played well this season and currently sits in the East’s seventh seed. They’re expected to be buyers at the deadline, because they want to make the playoffs for just the second time in franchise history.
Bobcats signed Al Jefferson in the offseason with the intention to become a winning team and end their tanking ways, so this isn’t that surprising. Gordon hasn’t really been a part of the team’s plans and is averaging just 5.6 points and playing 15.1 minutes per game in just 16 appearances this season.
Gordon was actually part of trade rumors last year after having an argument with the team’s head coach, but dumping an expiring contract is a whole lot easier. Still, any team that would take on Gordon’s deal and send a decent player in return would probably also ask for future draft picks.
