1972 – In a 134-90 victory over the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta, the Los Angeles Lakers won their 33rd consecutive game, the longest such streak in all of major professional sports. Lakers forward Jim McMillian scored a game-high 26 points and guard Gail Goodrich added 23 for the team. After finishing the season with a league-best 69-13 record, this Lakers team won 12 of their 15 postseason games en route to the 1972 NBA title.
