NBA Trade Rumors
The New York Knicks are in a pretty bad state right now, but it seems that they hope to reinforce their backcourt with an All-Star point guard in Rajon Rondo. Yes, I know it’s crazy, but that’s the Knicks for you.
According to league sources, the Knicks’ first prong is to try to attract the Celtics’ Rajon Rondo. This idea has been tossed around in various forms for a while now, it’s not shocking. But the way the Knicks are hoping to get Rondo is a little unusual.
It’s not in free agency in 2015 but later this season or next summer when he comes back from a torn ACL. The Knicks are hoping Rondo will be interested in making a maneuver similar to what Anthony did back in 2011 and eventually try to force a trade to the Knicks, sources said.
Back when Melo left the Nuggets, he threatened to leave the team for nothing when the season ended and demanded to be traded to New York. Denver came out on top of that trade, getting a lot of nice pieces and picks in return.
Now the Knicks hope that the illustrious honor of playing at the Madison Square Garden will get Rondo to force his way out of Boston. Considering the fact that the Celtics, even without Rondo, currently have a better record than the chaos that is the Knicks, that seems highly unlikely.
