NBA Trade Rumors – Going into the regular season, Thaddeus Young was a popular name that usually came up in speculations on who will get traded. So it’s really not that big of a surprise that Young has reportedly requested a trade and is looking to end his tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Young and his agent, Jim Tanner, submitted a formal trade request to Hinkie and the Sixers weeks ago, according to a source close to Young.
“Thad is ready to leave Philly,” the source said. “He isn’t with the whole tanking thing.” The Sixers are currently last in the Atlantic Division at 7-19.
The Sixers are tanking big time, and clearly Young isn’t enjoying it. His performances this season have been a little up-and-down, but his numbers are still pretty solid. Young’s name popped up in the Omer Asik discussions before the Houston Rockets decided to pull the plug on any immediate move, but it seems that Young requested to be moved prior to the rumors going public.
Again, this is really no big surprise. Most people around the league expect the Sixers to do whatever they can to land a good draft pick next summer and they have at least three players – Young, Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes – who are very tradable.
