NBA Trade Rumors
Masai Ujiri and the Toronto Raptors are cleaning the house and they are actively shopping Kyle Lowry. While Ujiri doesn’t mind doing business with any team in the league, the New York Knicks seems to be the most likely destination for the point guard.
Latest trade scuttle: Raptors trying to construct deal with Knicks that would send Kyle Lowry to New York
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) December 12, 2013
Lowry would certainly be a great addition to this mediocre Knicks team. Raymond Felton has just picked up an injury that will sideline him for a couple of weeks, which only makes the team’s current situation worse.
Lowry is an aggressive do-it-all guard that could help the Knicks get back on track, but he wouldn’t necessarily make the them a serious contender.
There are a lot of interesting dynamics in these two teams making a deal. Obviously the Raptors would love to unload Landry Fields, while the Knicks wouldn’t mind getting out of Felton’s contract. The latest word is that the Raptors want a first-round pick (the Knicks can only trade their 2018, 2019 and 2020 picks) and would probably get some kind of a two-player combination back for Lowry. It’s no secret that the Knicks are trying to move Iman Shumpert, so he could obviously be part of potential trade talks.
