NBA Trade Rumors
The Houston Rockets have set out to move center Omer Asik before Dec. 19, and are looking for trade partners. They are believed to want either a competent contributor or draft picks and a young prospect in return. According to ESPN, a potential trade partner could be the Philadelphia 76ers.
Keep your eye on Philadelphia. Front-runner would be overstating it, but the notion that the Sixers are a viable destination for Asik is increasingly making the rounds. And that certainly makes sense given Philly’s front office is run by a certified Asik fan in former Rockets exec Sam Hinkie.
Many expect the Sixers to be active the closer it gets to the trade deadline as they have several attractive and movable contracts. The three main players that are expected to be in the rumors are Thaddeus Young, Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes. Marc Stein points out that moving Young in return for Asik is possible, as he would be a decent enough frontcourt compliment to Dwight Howard.
While Young is a good player and wouldn’t be a bad fit next to Howard, Terrence Jones is having a breakout year and is actually shooting 40% from beyond the arc. Either way, the ball is in the Rockets’ hands and they could very well trade for a certain player only to package him into another deal.
