Carrick Felix, Henry Sims recalled from Canton Charge

After being assigned to the Cleveland Cavaliers D-League team, the Canton Charge, two days prior, the Wine & Gold have announced Monday that they have recalled shooting guard Carrick Felix and center Henry Sims. After playing two games with the Charge, the team decided to have the two players rejoin the team and possibly get a chance at seeing a few minutes of playing time.

Although that is unlikely for Sims because of the crowded and thriving frontcourt rotation of Tristan Thompson, Anderson Varejao and Andrew Bynum and the fact that Tyler Zeller has only recently received minutes in blowout situations on the road, Sims did see some playing time with the Cavs earlier this season. It is more likely that Felix receives some time because of Cleveland’s persisting issues with their wing players despite Sergey Karasev’s spot on the roster. Felix isn’t known for his offensive game, but there haven’t been many bright spots at the two and three offensively as of late.

In Wine & Gold so far this season, Sims has played in six games and has averaged 1.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 5.8 minutes, while shooting 44.4 percent from the field. Felix has seen action in three Cavalier games thus far, averaging 1.3 points and 5.0 minutes, while shooting 25.0 percent from the field.

Felix and Sims both saw action in two games with the Charge over the weekend, with Felix starting both contests and Sims making the first unit in one matchup. In his short stint with Canton, which will most likely occur often this season, Felix averaged 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals, while shooting 50.0 percent from the field. Sims also put up respectable numbers in two preseason games, averaging 15.0 points and 5.0 rebounds, while shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 92.3 percent from the free throw line.

It’s unlikely that either of these players will see much time with players like Zeller and Karasev not seeing regular minutes on a nightly basis already, but Brown may be looking for a spark in Felix at the wing position, as he stands the best chance of seeing time in Wine & Gold after being recalled. Stay tuned to RDE to find out when these players are on the move next.
