The Sacramento Kings set out to be very active in the trade circuit this season and they are following up on that goal. The team has been connected to several different players, the latest being Rudy Gay.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski the Toronto Raptors and the Kings are discussing a deal centered around Gay.

This is a bit of a baffling move for the Kings if they go through with it. It really doesn’t give them any kind of direction, as Gay is mostly an inefficient volume shooter ahead of everything else.

The Kings have a bunch of movable pieces so a trade is certainly feasible, it’s just hard to understand why Sacramento would be interested in acquiring Gay’s services. He is taking 18.6 shots per game this season while shooting 38.8% from the field.

One way or another, Masai Ujiri is a genius of a general manager, especially if he actually manages to unload Gay’s salary and get something valuable in return.
