Iman Shumpert’s name has been a hot one in the trade rumor mill. He has already been connected with several different teams and after the New York Knicks’ ninth straight loss, a trade seems inevitable.

Shumpert played just 21 minutes against the Pelicans and also got into a heated argument with Carmelo Anthony.

A shouting match with Carmelo Anthony and rookie Tim Hardaway Jr.’s breakout game may have pushed Iman Shumpert closer to the door.

Hardaway is fighting for playing time with Shumpert, who got into a heated rant with Anthony on the Knicks bench during a third-quarter timeout. Anthony didn’t look at him as Shumpert raved. Shumpert, who was then benched for the fourth quarter of the 103-99 loss to the Pelicans, called his tiff with Anthony “a miscommunication’’ on defense.

When a team with a whole lot of expectations is on a terrible losing streak, it’s completely normal for players to butt heads. While in a lot of cases we shouldn’t read too much into it, in Shumpert’s case this just another contributing factor towards his seemingly inevitable departure.

If you think that there have been a lot of Shumpert rumors at this point of the season, just wait until Dec. 15 when teams will be allowed to trade their free agent signings of last summer.
