NBA Trade Rumors – This seems to be the week when teams decide to give up on their recent high lottery picks. Only days after the Minnesota Timberwolves moved Derrick Williams to the Sacramento Kings, the Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to trade the fourth pick of the 2012 NBA draft Dion Waiters. According to Chris Broussard, the Cavs have spoken to the New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers and Chicago Bulls.
This doesn’t really come as that much of a surprise. Waiters has made headlines in the last couple of weeks, reportedly missing practice with some mysterious illness. The Cavs are struggling big time right now, and Broussard reports that tempers are flaring in the locker room.
So, what about the trade partners? The Knicks have been shopping Iman Shumpert for a while, so that’s clearly a deal that could potentially happen. Many expect the 76ers to move Evan Turner before the trade deadline and Thaddeus Young is another popular name, so the two teams could potentially work out some kind of a package deal. Finally we have the Bulls, who have lost Derrick Rose for the season and you can’t put it past them to try to make moves. Luol Deng is on an expiring contract and could easily be moved. Deng is also a player that the Cavs would probably like to have, as the team lacks some true veteran leadership and a good defensive wing right now.
