On This Date in NBA History: November 17, The Boston Garden Opened



1928 – The Boston Garden opened its doors for its first public event, a boxing match that featured Dick Finnegan and Andre Routis. Just under 18 years later, the Boston Celtics played their first game in the stadium and would continue to host games there until 1995.
