NBA Trade Rumors – It didn’t take particularly long for Kevin McHale’s dream of playing both Omer Asik and Dwight Howard at the same time to fall apart. The two players are clearly too similar to share the floor, and the Houston Rockets are now actively looking to move the Turkish big man.
In an effort to unload disgruntled center Omer Asik, the Houston Rockets have engaged in trade talks with multiple teams and are demanding an impact player in return, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Rival executives say that Rockets general manager Daryl Morey has been active in discussing possible deals for Asik, but his asking price has been too high so far. Morey has been willing to accommodate Asik’s summertime trade request, but so far has found little traction on possible deals.
Adrian Wojnarowski points out a decent trading partner in New Orleans Pelicans. While the Pelicans don’t seem to be engaging in trade talks just yet, a deal between the two teams would make sense. Ryan Anderson was terrific with the Orlando Magic when he played with Dwight Howard and would be a fantastic fit in Houston’s system. At the same time, having another good interior defender in Asik certainly wouldn’t hurt New Orleans.
