1993 – The NBA Board of Governors voted to adopt a modified NBA Draft Lottery system, which increased the chances of the teams with the worst records in the league of winning one of the top three picks in the NBA Draft. The new process that was used for the first time in the 1994 Draft Lottery is the same one used today by the league.
