On This Date in NBA History: November 4, Hornets Played Their First Game

1988 – The Charlotte Hornets, now the New Orleans Pelicans, played their first game in franchise history against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Charlotte Coliseum. The Hornets lost, 133-93, to begin their inaugural season that finished with a 20-62 record. They would play 14 seasons in Charlotte until moving to New Orleans. Overall, the franchise has made the playoffs in 12 of its 25 seasons coming into 2013-14, but has never made it past the Conference Semifinals.
