The Miami Heat vowed to take it slow with Greg Oden, which had many fans expecting that the former No. 1 overall pick would return to the basketball court mid-season. However, Oden made progress in the last couple of weeks and it was reported that he was participating in Miami’s practices. It seems that the big man was doing better than expected and actually returned to action Wednesday night.

Oden entered the game in the second quarter against the New Orleans Pelicans, but played just four minutes. After nearly four years since his last NBA game, it looked like a very positive experience for Oden. Miami ran a play for the big man and he finished it with a big dunk down low, which had Miami’s bench on their feet.

After the game Oden said that he was just happy to get on the floor and exit it on his own terms. He realizes that he has a long way to go, but he has put himself in a terrific situation with the reigning champions who are very supportive.
