NBA Trade Rumors – When an NBA team finally decides that it’s time to blow up the remains of a championship contender and start over with young talent, seasoned veterans often get caught in the middle. Even if a solid veteran still has a lot left in his tank, he could be moved for young prospects. That is precisely the situation Marcin Gortat and the Phoenix Suns find themselves in.
According to David Aldridge, Gortat is actually the most likely player to be moved by the February trade deadline. The 29-year-old center is on an expiring deal worth $7.7M and it’s hard seeing him in a Suns uniform past this season. Phoenix will be rebuilding around Eric Bledsoe and Alex Len, so it would not surprise anyone if the team would look to move Gortat for a couple of draft picks.
Gortat himself is still a very capable starting center and can definitely contribute to a championship contender that needs a big man down low. He averaged 11.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 61 appearances last season.
