While taking part in a pickup game, Otto Porter sustained a right hip flexor. The injury kept the third overall pick from participating in the Wizards first day of practice, which took place on Saturday.
The former Georgetown Hoya says that the injury is minor and that he’s simply going to take things day-by-day.
After a shaky summer league, in which Porter averaged just six points and three rebounds, you can bet that he’s anxious to get out there and prove to both his teammates and to himself that he was worthy of the third overall selection.
Porter’s length and work ethic have many thinking that he can mesh perfectly with John Wall and Bradley Beal, requiring the ball less while defending opponent’s top perimeter players.
How the 6″8 small forward performs this season will likely make the difference between whether or not Washington makes the playoffs.
