1956 – Happy 57th birthday to newly hired Detroit Pistons head coach Maurice Cheeks who spent his last four seasons as an Oklahoma City Thunder assistant coach. As the Philadelphia 76ers’ starting point guard, he was a part of the 1983 title team. The four-time All-Star was also selected to the NBA All-Defensive First Team four times. Cheeks’ 2,310 career steals are the fifth-most all-time.
