The Detroit Pistons recently acquired Brandon Jennings in a sign-and-trade with the Milwaukee Bucks, which seemingly put an end to the notion of a potential Rajon Rondo trade to the Pistons. However, according to Boston Globe, the interest has not faded.

Just because the Pistons acquired Brandon Jennings in a sign-and-trade deal with the Bucks doesn’t mean they’ve lost interest in Rajon Rondo. In fact, they could eventually use Jennings as a trade chip and seek to acquire Rondo. There are going to be several interested parties in Rondo, and that number could increase when he shows he’s fully recovered from anterior cruciate ligament surgery

Obviously nothing will get done until Rondo is back on an NBA floor and shows that he is still just as good as he was before tearing his ACL. After that the Celtics might not actively shop Rondo but they would obviously listen to offers. Whether some kind of a trade scenario involving Jennings would interest Boston is another story.

Trading Rondo would mean a complete rebuild instead of a revamped team with skills. Rondo is the best true point guard and that is absolutey the best thing the Celtics could use with this groupp of young/up and coming Celts. They got bigger, faster and have great potential to pick the new celtics game up very quickley. I think Ainge did the absolute best job this offseason and should recieve GM of the year next year. The core of Rondo, Bradley, Green, Sullinger and Olynyk make a formidible starting cast. As the Celtics rid themselves of Gerald Wallace and Humphreys along with the rest of the trash, ajnge will begin getting 1st round benchers for his new coach. It’s time the Celtics were a team again!!
