1948 – Happy 65th birthday to retired center Neal Walk, who was drafted after Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the second overall pick by the Phoenix Suns in 1969. In 1990, he was honored as the Wheelchair Athlete of the Year. Walk spent nine seasons in the NBA, but has been in a wheelchair since 1988 after doctors discovered a benign tumor enveloping his spine.
