CJ McCollum will win Rookie of the Year

Speaking of Portland, don’t be surprised if the Rookie of the Year comes out of Rip City for the second straight season. CJ McCollum is the newest additions in revolution of scoring-minded combo guards that are thriving in the pick-and-roll era of the NBA. Russell Westbrook, Tony Parker, Derrick Rose and his new backcourt-mate Damian Lillard have shown that teams can win with a point guard who doesn’t play in a traditional sense.

In McCollum’s case, his ability to play on or off ball will get him on the court a lot next season regardless of whether or not he starts. With the strong core of talent surrounding him, McCollum will be able to stand out on the scoring sheet in this weak class of rookies.
