The Detroit Pistons are interested in trading for Rajon Rondo and are seemingly willing to offer an expiring contract and Brandon Knight in return. However, the Boston Celtics are unlikely to make the deal unless it includes either Andre Drummond or Greg Monroe, according to the Boston Globe.
The Pistons are quite interested in Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, but they don’t have a package to offer that would attract president of basketball operations Danny Ainge to making a deal. The Celtics would presumably ask for emerging center Andre Drummond, who is as close to untouchable as a younger player can get. Detroit would like to send the CelticsBrandon Knight and an expiring contract, but that wouldn’t be nearly enough.
With that offer, the Pistons were clearly hopeful that the Celtics would be willing to move Rondo based on the fact that his value is low now, as he recovers from a torn ACL. If Boston does end up moving Rondo, it will likely be after he returns to the floor and shows that he is capable of playing at a high level.
