Atlanta Hawks Sign Elton Brand

According to HoopsHype, the Atlanta Hawks will sign power forward Elton Brand to a one-year $4 million contract.

“We think it’s a great opportunity for him,” Falk said. “I can see him playing 4-5 more years because Elton is serious about his conditioning and, besides, he plays more with his head than his body at this point. Atlanta is a good fit and Elton will be a good veteran presence there.”

From the Hawks perspective, this is a very decent signing. Brand will add some depth to the Hawks’ potent froncourt of Al Horford and Paul Millsap. At the same time, it’s a relatively reasonable price for Brand and doesn’t jeopardize Atlanta’s future cap flexibility.
