2004 – Steve Nash (@SteveNash) signed as a free agent with the Phoenix Suns. He went on to win the 2004-05 and 2005-06 NBA MVP awards. Now a Laker, he owns the second-best free-throw percentage in NBA history. In addition, on July 14, 2004, the Los Angeles Lakers traded Shaquille O’Neal to the Miami Heat for Caron Butler, Brian Grant, Lamar Odom and two future draft picks. O’Neal was the starting center for the 2006 champion Heat.
