The Minnesota Timberwolves finally nabbed their shooter, picking up Kevin Martin for four years and $30 million. Rick Adelman must be a Kevin Martin kind of guy. This is the third separate time that Martin played under Adelman. K-Mart also brings clarity to the Shabazz Muhammed pick. If Shabazz starts (big if) and they re-sign Pekovic (another big if), Minnesota could throw out a Rubio-Martin-Muhammed-Love-Pekovic lineup which would be pretty balanced in all phases offensively.

The bar was set pretty low for the Portland Trail Blazers to improve their record-setting bad defense from last season. Earl Watson, Dorell Wright, Thomas Robinson and Robin Lopez are all very solid improvements off the bench for Portland. Throw in draft picks CJ McCollum and Alan Crabbe and the Blazers are looking like a team on the rise.
