The Indiana Pacers have decided to bring back veteran power forward David West who helped bring the Pacers within one game of the NBA Finals.

Yahoo! is also reporting that the third year of the deal will be a player option. The signing isn’t too much of a surprise, West was a great fit in the high post for Indiana this season and helped provide consistency and grit on the defensive end that ultimately defined the Pacers’ postseason run. However, 3 years and $36 million seems like an awfully high price for an undersized power forward who will turn 33 before the start of the season. The West signing solidifies the starting five in Indiana, and now the Pacers will almost certainly move Danny Granger over the offseason and continue to strengthen the bench.
