On This Date in NBA Draft History: June 30, The Magic Chose Chris Webber No. 1 Overall

1993 – The Orlando Magic chose Chris Webber of the University of Michigan with the first overall pick of the 1993 NBA Draft. He went on to be the 1994 Rookie of the Year and a five-time All-Star, but did not play a game for the Magic. Orlando traded him to the Golden State Warriors for future All-Star Anfernee Hardaway and a few draft picks. Other All-Stars drafted that year were Vin Baker, Sam Cassell, Anfernee Hardaway, Allan Houston, Jamal Mashburn and Nick Van Exel.
