The Boston Celtics are cleaning the house, and will be trading Paul Pierce, Jason Terry and Kevin Garnett to the Brooklyn Nets. The rebuilding phase is in full swing in Boston, but could Rajon Rondo be the next man out of the door, rather than the player the Celtics will be rebuilding around?
The fact that the Mavs would love to have Rondo around doesn’t really mean much. First of all, it’s highly unlikely that Dallas would take any bad contracts from Boston, considering how careful Mark Cuban has been to preserve cap space.
At this point it seems that Danny Ainge will listen to phone calls from anyone that is interested in acquiring Rondo’s services, but the Celtics will be asking for picks and push their bad contracts on whoever they are dealing with.
As for the Mavs, it’s really a long shot, and probably won’t happen. It has also been rumored that the only player the Celtics are actually interested in would be none other than Dirk Nowitzki, who is practically the only untouchable on the Mavs roster.
