NBA Trade Rumors – Recent rumors suggested that the Brooklyn Nets and the Boston Celtics could be interested in potentially making a deal involving Kevin Garnett. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo, such deal is now taking shape, and it’s a blockbuster also involving Paul Pierce:
The talks are centering around a package that would include Gerald Wallace, Tomike Shengelia, the expiring deal of Kris Humphries and three future first-round picks, sources told Y! Sports.
The thought behind the trade is pretty obvious — the Nets hope to bolster the team’s chances to contend for a championship next season, even though it would probably be a one-year window. They would get rid of Gerald Wallace’s contract, but would have to give up a bunch of picks to the Celtics.
Wallace still has three years and over $30 million left on his deal, while Humphries’ contract is expiring. Clearly the Celtics would rather not take Wallace’s salary, but the picks makes the deal a little more lucrative.
For this deal to be possible, Garnett would have to waive his no-trade clause, but with Pierce going with him, that could be a possibility.
