1997 – The San Antonio Spurs chose Tim Duncan of Wake Forest with the first overall pick of the 1997 NBA Draft. Just two years later, the Spurs won their first championship in franchise history. After the draft, Duncan went on to be the 1998 Rookie of the Year as well as a 14-time All-Star, two-time MVP, four-time champion and three-time Finals MVP. Other All-Stars drafted that year were Chauncey Billups and Tracy McGrady.
