NBA Trade Rumors – You know that trade between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Boston Celtics that was dead, then alive, then dead, then almost completed, then completely dead again? It’s alive again! Well, at least partially.
Clippers called Celtics today, offered a future 1st round pick for rights to coach Doc Rivers and sides near agreement, source tells Y!

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo, the two teams are agreeing on the terms for the release of head coach Doc Rivers. The Clippers have conceded and are seemingly willing to offer a first-round pick for Doc’s services.
Since the league essentially blocked the blockbuster trade the two teams had in mind, Kevin Garnett will not be part of this deal. Somehow, someway the two teams will probably still try to trade Garnett to LA, but whether that works out remains to be seen.
Either way, if what Wojnarowski is reporting is true, and he is usually spot on, then this is most definitely happening. At first the Clippers didn’t want to offer any compensation for the release of Rivers, while the Celtics asked for exactly what they are being offered – a future first-round pick.
Rivers and the Clippers still need to work out his contract details, but the deal will get done, unless the Clippers change their minds.
