It’s no secret that James Harden and Chandler Parsons of the Houston Rockets have taken turns to try to recruit Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard this summer. Apparently, Parsons talks to Dwight every day.
The 2013 NBA Finals impressed not only regular NBA fans, but also players. Parsons was among many others to be captivated by the thrilling actiong that the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs put on display. And Chandler wants to share that moment with Howard:
“I couldn’t help but picture us there and playing that game,” Parsons said. “I was thinking there is no reason that couldn’t and shouldn’t be us next year.”
“I talk to Dwight every day,” Parsons said. “I’ve created a relationship with him, where I feel like we’re very close. He hits me up about everything. I’ve covered pretty much every question he’s had. I basically tell him, ‘We have a chance to be really good without you next year. We’re going to have a good season. Why not come and join us, join our core guys who are for sure to be here and make us great, make us contend for a championship?’
“After watching that last night,” Parsons said, “I hit him with, ‘Come to Houston. That could be us.’ ”
While the Rockets are not able to make their official pitch to free agents until July 1, Parsons is clearly doing his best to try to convince Howard that Houston is the best place for him, and the big man is reportedly very intrigued by the situation in Houston.
