Also, sources tell SheridanHoops.com the Cavs are in serious discussions to acquire Shawn Marion from Dallas in a lopsided trade that would allow them to move up from No. 19 to No. 13 in the first round by relieving the Mavs of Marion’s $9.3 million salary, allowing Mark Cuban more salary cap flexibility to use on July 1.
This would mean that the Mavericks would get cap relief as they enter free agency, while the Cavaliers would land Marion and also own the No. 1 and No. 13 picks in this year’s NBA Draft.
The deal kind of makes sense for both teams. Cavs are in need of a good small forward, and while Marion might not be in his prime, he can still get the job done and he has a player option for the last year of his $9.3 million contract.
Also, according to Sheridan Hoops, the Cavaliers are leaning towards drafting Alex Len with the first overall pick.
