NBA Trade Rumors – The Los Angeles Clippers and the Boston Celtics came to an agreement on their blockbuster trade involving Kevin Garnett and DeAndre Jordan, but will now be forced to mix it up.
Marc Stein of ESPN reported that the two teams have to prove to the league that the trades they are making are separate — the second trade being the release of Doc Rivers for two first-round picks. As a result of this, the teams are trying to change the deal up so that it fits league protocol, according to Marc Stein.
This trade is all made very tricky by the fact that it involves the release of a head coach, and coaches cannot be dealt as part of player trades. As such, the Celtics and the Clippers have to convince the league that the two transactions are being made separately and not part of one package, which would technically violate the rules of the NBA.
It will be interesting to see what the two teams come up with and if they can both agree on a new framework on this deal and get it approved by the league.
