Spurs Use Hot Shooting To Down Heat, Take Series Lead

Jun 11, 2013; San Antonio, TX, USA; San Antonio Spurs point guard Gary Neal (14) and Manu Ginobili (20) celebrate a three point shot at the end of the half against the Miami Heat during game three of the 2013 NBA Finals at the AT

Tonight the San Antonio Spurs rode the hot hands of two unlikely scoring machines in Danny Green and Gary Neal to a Game Three victory, giving themselves a 2-1 lead over the Miami Heat in this year’s NBA Finals. Neal and Green combined for 51 points and the pair shot 13-19 from deep, helping the Spurs to a 113-77 blowout victory. Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard each contributed double-doubles to the winning effort, with Duncan also blocking 2 shots while Leonard came away with 4 steals.

The Heat really only got a solid game out of Mike Miller, whose 15 points off the bench were second on the team and were actually one of the only reasons this game wasn’t out of reach earlier than it was. Their “Big Three” of Lebron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh shot a combined 18-46 from the floor and only managed to get to the line 8 times as the Heat dug themselves into an early hole which they never climbed out of.

Miami will try to come back and even the series on Thursday night in San Antonio.
