Saturday evening, 40-year-old NBA veteran Grant Hill announced his retirement. After a great college career, Hill was one of the best players in the league until injuries got the best of him. However, Hill continued to battle through the ailments and played 18 seasons in the NBA. His best years were with the Detroit Pistons, where he spent his first six seasons and averaged 21.6 points per game. He then went on to play for the Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns and eventually ended his career with one last injury-plagued season with the Los Angeles Clippers.

As you can imagine, when a player of Hill’s caliber retires, a lot of people react. Here are some Twitter reactions to his announcement.

Hill is truly a great player and it’s sad to see him go, but it was definitely time. He fought through his injuries and would not listen to people who thought he should have retired 10 years ago. Best of luck to Grant moving forward!
