Miami Heat 1-0 Indiana Pacers
Time: Friday, May 24 at 8:30 P.M. ET
TV Network: TNT
At: American Airlines Arena, Miami
Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals proved to be a real thriller. What was a defensive grind for most of the game, quickly became a case of who can make the big shots. Paul George hit an incredible 3-point shot at the end of regulation, but ultimately LeBron James put the nail in the coffin with his game-winning layup.
The biggest story of the opener was Frank Vogel’s bold decision to sit the anchor of his defense, Roy Hibbert, in the crucial moments of the game.
The playoff intensity was highly palpable in game 1, and we can expect more of the same in game 2.
Players to watch
Miami Heat - LeBron James played around and got a triple-double, while also draining the game-winner. No biggie. Will James continue to carry Miami in game 2? SPOILER ALERT: Yes.
Indiana Pacers - David West continues to be a the primary burden of the Heat. Paul George led the Pacers in scoring, but West’s 11-17 shooting did some major damage as well. Miami doesn’t really have anyone who matches up that well with West other than LeBron, so look for him to continue putting up big numbers.
Prediction: Game 1 was a great chance for the Pacers to at least split the series. Now that the Heat have drawn first blood, they will take care of business and head to Indiana with a 2-0 lead.
