Brian Shaw is a name that has been tossed around for a couple of years now, as many believe the young coach deserves a head-coaching gig of his own. According to reports, the Detroit Pistons and the Brooklyn Nets are two teams that have contacted Shaw so far.

Phil Jackson was recently hired by the Pistons for advice regarding a new coach, so it’s not surprising that Detroit has now contacted Shaw. Brian was a long-time assistant coach of the Los Angeles Lakers and worked under Jackson, who holds his ex-colleague in high regard.

Shaw currently works as an associate head coach under Frank Vogel in Indiana. He is regarded as a great defensive coach, and there is no doubt that he has had a huge part in crafting one of the most devastating defenses in the league.

The Pistons would certainly be a good fit for Shaw. He would get to work with a young and talented core in Greg Monroe, Brandon Knight and Andre Drummond. The Nets, on the other hand, are in a completely different situation, coming off an early playoff exit.
