According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo, the Philadelphia 76ers will hire Sam Hinkie as their new GM.

Prior to landing the gig with the Sixers, Hinkie was an assistant GM for the Houston Rockets.

Hinkie will replace Tony DiLeo and will handle the top decision-making for the Sixers from here on out. Philadelphia are also on the hunt for a new head coach, after Doug Collins stepped down from his position.

The Sixers are clearly not in a good situation right now, as their gamble on Andrew Bynum has not paid off and has hurt the organization in a major way. Hinkie will try to set the team straight. If you haven’t heard much about him, Zach Lowe offered some encouraging words:

If we are to believe Lowe, the Sixers made the right choice here, and perhaps Hinkie is the man to right the ship.
