After deciding against extending P.J. Carlesimo, the Brooklyn Nets are on the hunt for a new head coach. Following a first-round exit, it seems as though the team is looking to make a splash.
According to Chris Broussard of ESPN, the top 3 coaching candidates for the job are Phil Jackson, Larry Brown and Brian Shaw. The Van Gundy brothers are reportedly not on the wish list.
Larry Brown’s last NBA gig was with the Charlotte Bobcats, while Brian Shaw currently serves as an associate coach of the Indiana Pacers and most believe that he is long overdue a head coaching opportunity.
While Broussard mentions Jackson as one of the candidates, it is probably not very likely that Phil would come out of retirement to coach this Brooklyn team. Instead, Jackson has been linked with the Toronto Raptors for a front-office job.
