It is no surprise that Damian Lillard has taken down the Rookie Of The Year award. Portland Trail Blazers’ sixth pick of the 2012 draft surpassed all expectations and outshined all other rookies this year. He averaged 19 points, 6.5 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game. He also became just the third rookie to score 1,500 points and dish out 500 assists in his first year, joining Oscar Robertson and Allen Iverson.
Naturally, a lot of NBA people took their time to congratulate the young point guard through Twitter:
Congrats on ROY @Dame_Lillard ! Well deserved, keep grindin' !!

Damian Lillard unanimously voted as Rookie of the Year. Amazing. A year ago half those voters had never seen him play.

When I first met @Dame_Lillard, he was at Weber State and just hoping to get drafted. Now, he's the unanimous R.O.Y. Hard work pays off!
