It looks as though the Los Angeles Lakers might get some help in their chase of a playoff spot. Metta World Peace could make a shocking return to the court tomorrow evening, just 12 days after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus.
World Peace was supposed to miss at least six weeks with his injury, which brought great disappointment among Lakers’ fans. Despite losing a step or two, World Peace is still the best perimeter defender on LA’s roster and would help the team tremendously if he could make it back this early. According to ESPN, that’s possible:
“He’s good,” D’Antoni said. “It’s probably a game time decision but he looks good. He’s raring to go. The medical staff will make a decision tomorrow. It’s unbelievable. He’s different. … I’ve never seen this before.”
It sounds somewhat crazy that World Peace could make such an early return, but the Lakers need all the help they can get. After losing to the Los Angeles Clippers, Kobe Bryant and co. find themselves one game outside of the playoffs, with only five games to go in the regular season.
